Susan Helm-Murtagh has been consulting with and educating leaders in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors for more than a decade. In addition to her consulting practice, she is an assistant professor at the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She guides executives at the master’s and doctoral level in developing and implementing strategic plans for their organizations, and in building their leadership practice.

She is also the co-founder and director of The Ellie Helm Foundation (Sturgeon Bay, WI), and co-founder and director of The Athletes’ Coalition (Boulder, CO). She serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors for the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (Berkeley, CA), a non-profit youth development organization. Susan has more than 15 years of experience serving on and leading non-profit boards.

Previously, she was vice president at Mosaic Health Solutions. She has over twenty-five years of health care payer experience, including strategic development and planning, marketing, health informatics, information management, software development, and operations.

Susan holds a BS in psychology and management science from Duke University, an MM (with distinction) in marketing and finance from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, and a DrPH in Health Policy and Management from the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
